About Fajr Prayer
Fajr prayer consists of two parts: Sunnah (optional but highly recommended) and Fard (obligatory). You can learn each prayer separately. It is recommended to perform the Sunnah prayer first, followed by the Fard prayer.
What is Sunnah and Fard?
Sunnah (Optional)
Actions taught and practiced by the Prophet (peace be upon him). They are highly recommended, beneficial and rewarded but not sinful to omit.
Fard (Obligatory)
Obligatory acts commanded by Allah. Missing a Fard prayer (without valid excuse) is a serious matter and must be made up (qadha) if missed.
Sunnah Prayer
Optional but highly recommended prayer that follows the practice of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
2 Rak'ahs (Optional)
Fard Prayer
Obligatory prayer that every Muslim must perform. This is the required Fajr prayer.
2 Rak'ahs (Required)
Recommended Order
It is recommended to perform the Sunnah prayer first, then the Fard prayer. However, if you are short on time, you can go directly to the Fard prayer as it is obligatory.
