How to Pray (Salah)
Prayer (Salah) is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims pray five times a day.
Fajr
2 RakaatsDawn prayer - Before sunrise
Dhuhr
4 RakaatsNoon prayer - After the sun passes its zenith
Asr
4 RakaatsAfternoon prayer - Late afternoon
Maghrib
3 RakaatsSunset prayer - Just after sunset
Isha
4 RakaatsNight prayer - After twilight disappears
Ablution (Wudu)
Wudu is the ritual purification performed before prayer.
- 1 Make intention (Niyyah) in your heart
- 2 Say "Bismillah" (In the name of Allah)
- 3 Wash both hands up to the wrists three times
- 4 Rinse the mouth three times
- 5 Rinse the nose three times
- 6 Wash the face three times
- 7 Wash the right arm up to the elbow three times, then the left
- 8 Wipe the head once
- 9 Wipe the inside and outside of the ears
- 10 Wipe the back of the neck with the backs of the hands used for the head
- 11 Wash the right foot up to the ankle three times, then the left
