بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Chapter 89 : Verse 1

وَٱلْفَجْرِ

By the dawn

Transliteration

Waalfajri

Chapter 89 : Verse 2

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ

And [by] ten nights

Transliteration

Walayalin AAashrin

3
Chapter 89 : Verse 3

وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ

And [by] the even [number] and the odd

Transliteration

WaalshshafAAi waalwatri

Chapter 89 : Verse 4

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ

And [by] the night when it passes,

Transliteration

Waallayli itha yasri

5
Chapter 89 : Verse 5

هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ

Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?

Transliteration

Hal fee thalika qasamun lithee hijrin

Chapter 89 : Verse 6

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -

Transliteration

Alam tara kayfa faAAala rabbuka biAAadin

Chapter 89 : Verse 7

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ

[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,

Transliteration

Irama thati alAAimadi

Chapter 89 : Verse 8

ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ

The likes of whom had never been created in the land?

Transliteration

Allatee lam yukhlaq mithluha fee albiladi

Chapter 89 : Verse 9

وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ

And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

Transliteration

Wathamooda allatheena jaboo alssakhra bialwadi

Chapter 89 : Verse 10

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ

And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -

Transliteration

WafirAAawna thee alawtadi

Chapter 89 : Verse 11

ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ

[All of] whom oppressed within the lands

Transliteration

Allatheena taghaw fee albiladi

Chapter 89 : Verse 12

فَأَكْثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ

And increased therein the corruption.

Transliteration

Faaktharoo feeha alfasada

Chapter 89 : Verse 13

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ

So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.

Transliteration

Fasabba AAalayhim rabbuka sawta AAathabin

Chapter 89 : Verse 14

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ

Indeed, your Lord is in observation.

Transliteration

Inna rabbaka labialmirsadi

Chapter 89 : Verse 15

فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ

And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."

Transliteration

Faamma alinsanu itha ma ibtalahu rabbuhu faakramahu wanaAAAAamahu fayaqoolu rabbee akramani

Chapter 89 : Verse 16

وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ

But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."

Transliteration

Waamma itha ma ibtalahu faqadara AAalayhi rizqahu fayaqoolu rabbee ahanani

Chapter 89 : Verse 17

كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ

No! But you do not honor the orphan

Transliteration

Kalla bal la tukrimoona alyateema

Chapter 89 : Verse 18

وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ

And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.

Transliteration

Wala tahaddoona AAala taAAami almiskeeni

Chapter 89 : Verse 19

وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا

And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,

Transliteration

Watakuloona altturatha aklan lamman

Chapter 89 : Verse 20

وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا

And you love wealth with immense love.

Transliteration

Watuhibboona almala hubban jamman

Chapter 89 : Verse 21

كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا

No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -

Transliteration

Kalla itha dukkati alardu dakkan dakkan

Chapter 89 : Verse 22

وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا

And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,

Transliteration

Wajaa rabbuka waalmalaku saffan saffan

Chapter 89 : Verse 23

وَجِا۟ىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ

And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?

Transliteration

Wajeea yawmaithin bijahannama yawmaithin yatathakkaru alinsanu waanna lahu alththikra

Chapter 89 : Verse 24

يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى

He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."

Transliteration

Yaqoolu ya laytanee qaddamtu lihayatee

25
Chapter 89 : Verse 25

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ

So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,

Transliteration

Fayawmaithin la yuAAaththibu AAathabahu ahadun

Chapter 89 : Verse 26

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ

And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].

Transliteration

Wala yoothiqu wathaqahu ahadun

Chapter 89 : Verse 27

يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ

[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,

Transliteration

Ya ayyatuha alnnafsu almutmainnatu

Chapter 89 : Verse 28

ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً

Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],

Transliteration

IrjiAAee ila rabbiki radiyatan mardiyyatan

Chapter 89 : Verse 29

فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى

And enter among My [righteous] servants

Transliteration

Faodkhulee fee AAibadee

30
Chapter 89 : Verse 30

وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى

And enter My Paradise."

Transliteration

Waodkhulee jannatee

Chapter 89

By the dawn [1]

And [by] ten nights [2]

And [by] the even [number] and the odd [3]

And [by] the night when it passes, [4]

Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception? [5]

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad - [6]

[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, [7]

And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance? [23]

He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life." [24]

So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment, [25]

And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]. [26]

[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul, [27]

Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], [28]

And enter among My [righteous] servants [29]

And enter My Paradise." [30]
